The value-based procurement conference returns for its eighth European edition in 2027. It will be held at MIX Brussels on 27 January 2027, organised by the VBP Community of Practice (VBP CoP). The CoP brings together procurement organisations, procurers, the medical technology industry and its leaders, and works with health authorities and other stakeholders.
The conference has support from EHPPA, EUREGHA, RESAH, Solventum, Junta de Andalucía, Swansea University School of Management and MedTech Europe.
What the value-based procurement conference will cover
The 2027 theme is “The Value Revolution – Transforming Healthcare Through Procurement”. Organisers state that the event will move past theory to focus on putting ambition into action. It will examine ways procurement can improve patient outcomes, speed up innovation and build more sustainable healthcare systems.
The VBP CoP wants to change practice and put value-based procurement into effect across public and private healthcare. Its goal is to bring the most economically advantageous solution into healthcare, judged by the value offered to patients, caregivers, providers and potentially society.
Readers who want the policy background can start with our analysis of the EU Public Procurement Act and what it means for medicines. It covers how the act would make the best price-quality ratio the default for tenders.
On the value side, our piece on strategic purchasing in South Africa looks at how prioritising value can improve patient outcomes. The European medtech industry in 2026 review covers patents, jobs and market share.
Speakers and programme to follow
Organisers anticipate keynote speakers, real-world success stories and new international perspectives. The full agenda will be released soon, with more speakers and case studies added in the coming weeks.
