Sandoz mobile health initiative

Sandoz has launched the Sandoz mobile health initiative in Portugal through its “Sandoz em Marcha” project, sending a mobile health unit to 16 localities over two months to deliver free screenings and health education while strengthening the role of community pharmacies as everyday access points.

Direct Community Screenings Roll Out

The unit provides cardiovascular risk checks plus metabolic, respiratory, venous, digestive, bone and skin assessments with rapid tests, followed by personalized counseling and medical referrals when needed. An accredited pharmacist training program pairs classroom learning with on-site practice, building professional skills while capturing real data on local health needs. These combined services within the Sandoz mobile health initiative target chronic disease burdens, low health literacy and uneven access to care.

Proven Model Expanded from Spain

After successful runs in Madrid and Catalonia, the Portuguese Sandoz mobile health initiative works with pharmacy groups, municipalities, patient associations and media partners to embed the mobile unit in daily community life. The unit functions as both a clinical outpost and an awareness platform, positioning pharmacies as continuous partners in prevention rather than simple dispensaries.

Data Driving Better Access Strategies

Usage figures, detected risk cases and patient feedback from the Sandoz mobile health initiative supply practical inputs for health economics evaluations of community-based prevention. Strengthened pharmacist involvement in early detection and adherence support offers evidence that can shape future reimbursement discussions and highlight how manufacturers can deliver value beyond medicines alone.
